Congnizant huge aid for Chennai
The American BPO and IT services company, Cognizant Technology Solutions announced a commitment of $40 million (Rs 260 crore) to undertake relief and rehabilitation to the flood hit city of Chennai.
Under the proposed $40 million, about $10 million (Rs 65 crore) of funding is targeted to help the residents of Chennai through direct grants to the Tamil Nadu CM’s Public Relief Fund. The remaining $30 million (Rs 195 crore) will be used to assist the immediate and longer-term recovery needs of its employees and business partners through direct grants and loans to employees.
In a statement, Cognizant President Gordon Coburn said, “Corporate support must play a vital role in providing immediate relief and help to rebuild the city of Chennai”
